Henry's March!

Two members of the women's soccer team along with other student-athletes from Cal State Stanislaus participated in Henry's March this past weekend.

Family, friends and volunteers gathered Saturday for a march on the Cal State Stanislaus campus to support Henry Johnson. Henry is a 5-year-old Turlock boy who has Apert syndrome. The disorder resulted in his fingers being fused when he was born and a number of other medical issues that have required numerous surgeries. Apert syndrome turns up in one of about 160,000 to 200,000 babies, according to the Children's Craniofacial Association.

Henry's mother Rachel Johnson organized the event to benefit the Children's Craniofacial Association. Over 500 supporters turned out on Saturday, with in excess of $20,000 raised for the organization.

Cal State Stanislaus women's soccer player Jessica Sitarz and Heather Overholt volunteered their time on Saturday to support the event. Great job girls!

Warriors Feature Two-Sport Stars!

Soccer isn't the only sport some of the members of the Warrior women's soccer team participate in here at Cal State Stanislaus. For the past two years sophomore Bri McClain has been part of the track team at Stanislaus. This season she has been joined by some of her soccer teammates. Angie Leporini (pictured just prior to lift off) competed this past weekend for the Warriors in the long jump at the Gator Preview. She was joined by soccer teammate Sabel Maguire (shot put). A number of other Warriors will be participating in future track meets this spring. Last year a group of speedy soccer players finished fourth at the Stanislaus Invitational in the 4x100 relay. The team included Bri McClain, Alex Vallee, Cherie Early, and Kasie Rozario. Former Warrior women's soccer player Danielle Ciraulo was a three-sport star running cross country, track, and playing soccer. To keep up with our Warrior two-sport stars check out the blog throughout the spring.
