Warriors Go International!

The typical midfielder runs 5-6 miles in any given game. That's nothing compared to how far the newest addition to the Warriors had to travel just to get to the soccer fields in Turlock.

The Warriors welcomed Alena Smajlagic to the team at the start of the spring semester. Alena, an attacking midfielder, is from Sweden. Born in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Smajlagic moved to Sweden when she was eight years old. It was there that she developed her soccer skills. In the fall of 2006 she moved to the United States to play for West Hills Community College in Lemoore, California.

After just three semesters and some summer classes Smajlagic graduated from West Hills with her Associate of Arts degree and a 4.0 grade point average. Smajlagic was a two-year starter for the Golden Eagles. She was first team all Central Valley Conference her freshman year and was Midfielder of the Year for the Central Valley Conference her sophomore season.

What Is Your Brain Type?

Are you a "motivator," a "facilitator, " maybe a "Supervisor"? This week we are finding out all about our brain type in an effort to get to know ourselves and our teammates better. We spend a lot of time working on all areas of our performance. One area we like to focus on is mental training. Find out your brain type and learn more about it by clicking here.

All Done With Fitness Testing

Today we completed the last of our 10 fitness tests. Over the two days of testing we did the "Beep Test" to measure aerobic fitness, 300s to measure anaerobic fitness and eight additional tests (vertical leap, push-up test, sit-up test, T-test, Pro-Agility test, 3-hop test, 20 yard sprint, 40 yard sprint) to measure our athletic ability, speed and agility. Now that we know where everyone is at we can track their progress throughout the spring. Go Warriors!

Kim DiNardo & Christian Athletes

Hi there! My name is Kim DiNardo and I'm a member of the CSU Stanislaus Women's Soccer Team. I'm originally from Simi Valley in So Cal. I'm majoring in Business and hopefully will open my own business one day. I love to volunteer and be involved with school and activities.

In addition to being on the team, I'm a member of a club on campus called FCA. FCA stands for the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. Its a club on a campus where Christian athletes can meet and worship God. I began going my Freshman year,a teammate and I saw a poster and we thought we would give it a chance and little did we know how it was going to affect our lives. I've made so many new friends and it introduced me to my current church home, a college group and an opportunity to work staff at a Junior high ministries, Impact.

At FCA we have bible studies, game nights and speakers. At the end of each semester we have a party and this last semester we played guitar hero..now I'm addicted!! FCA is beginning to get more involved with the community and university. We started a new program where we give out Gatorade bottles with verses of encouragement to every sports team on their rival game. Additionally over the summer I worked the FCA sports camp at UCSB. It was a very rewarding experience because I got to help high school students improve their game and better their walk with Christ. It was an amazing time and I can't wait to do volunteer again next summer!!

I hope this have given you better idea of what FCA is all about! Hope to see you there!

Meet "Safety Inspector" Bri McClain

So...my name's Bri (that's me on the right).  Sometimes they call me MC.  I play forward and outside mid for the team.  I also run track for Stanislaus.  I'm a sophomore majoring in Mathematics and I tutor math for a program called AMP on campus.  I also work for Hollister in the Vintage Fair Mall in Modesto.
I'm originally from Richmond, CA, but I went to Deer Valley High School, and I was mostly raised in Antioch.  I have two sisters and a little brother, all of which are amazing.

On the team I play a very important role off the field.  My coach has titled it the "safety police."  I write tickets all the time for unsafe activities that I don't enjoy such as swimming, playing in the rain, or any other kind of water involvement.  I'm also not a big fan of animals, small children, or planes.  I'm attempting to warm up to camping, but it is also a very new experience.  Besides that there is not much else to say.  I love you all on my team and hopefully you all like my blog.  Toodles!

Check Out Our Spring!

Did you ever wonder what college teams do during the Spring?  On our team the Spring is all about individual improvement.  While during the Fall we focus on the team and team goals, during the Spring we focus on the individual and individual goals.  All of our practices focus on individual skill development.

We also always try and play a really challenging schedule of games during the Spring.  This year is no different.  Under NCAA rules we are allowed 5 play days during the Spring.  Check out our schedule!

April 5 @ Fresno State
April 6 @ University of Pacific
April 12 @ San Jose State
April 20 @ UC Davis 7v7 Tournament
April 26 v. Dominican University
