Warrior All-Access: Menlo Post-Game Interview

Defender Rachel Mathews (left) and forward Maryanne Sayles comment on the Warriors 9-0 win over Menlo College. Notice the chocolate milk. That's our secret recovery weapon.

Warrior All-Access: Maryanne breaks 8 year record!

This is the record-setting goal by Maryanne Sayles. It was her third goal of the game. She completed the match with a new Cal State Stanislaus women's soccer record of 7 points. The previous record was held by Cherie Young and was set in 2000.

Senior Surprise!

The seniors had a little surprise on Saturday morning. Here is junior Jessica Sitarz to describe the events...
1,2,3 Gooooo! Those were the words that signaled the under classmen to barge into the seniors bedroom at six o clock in the morning. The underclassmen were trying to do something special for their loved seniors. And this is how it went, we would barge in each senior’s room screaming and spraying silly string all over them making them wake up. As soon as we got all the seniors together they had no idea what was going to happen next. Let me add that they were not a happy bunch this early in the morning. Because we are a very nice team and we love our seniors all we did was go back to our house where we had a nice breakfast waiting. We also gave our seniors and the whole team a little surprise. Everyone got a t-shirt with a nickname on the back and on the front it either said My Team Loves Me or My Seniors Love Me.

Another CCAA Player of the Week

After going two years without one player being named CCAA Player of the Week the Warriors now have won the award two consecutive weeks. This time it was the record-setting performance by Maryanne Sayles (3 goals, 1 assist, 7 points) that has led to her being named CCAA Player of the Week. Read the entire story...

Home games and home cookin!

Well it is officially game day here in Turlock. Sunday games usually means a trip to the local Perkos for our pre-game meal. We try and eat 2 1/2 to 3 hours prior to game time. Today it was brunch. The menu consisted of eggs, pancakes, and sausage or bacon. Otherwise known as the Triple Play! A good pre-game meal is a critical part of playing well. We try to have a good balanced meal prior to all of our games. The local Perkos does a great job of taking care of us every Sunday that we have a home game.

So what else happens on game day?

A typical schedule on game day is as follows:

10:00 a.m. Team Breakfast
11:00 a.m. Training Room Opens
11:30 a.m. Dress for Game (Uniforms are in lockers)
12:30 p.m. Pre-game Meeting
12:45 p.m. Begin Warm-up
1:30 p.m. Game Time!

Fantastic Finish!

There is nothing like an overtime win in college soccer. It took a fantastic play from freshman Kayln Pottorff to give the Warriors a win over the University of Hawaii Hilo today. Pottorff score the golden-goal in the 7th minute of the first overtime period on a flick from senior Adrienne Sorenson (her second assist of the game). See full game story. Check back Saturday for interviews and video of the game-winning goal and post-game dog pile. We are all very happy with the win and that Kayln was not seriously injured at the bottom of that dog pile. Next up for the Warriors will be Menlo College on Sunday at 1:30 p.m. at the Turlock Sports Complex. GO WARRIORS!
