Players from the team helped cheer on participants during the race. There was also a mascot race won by Thor the Stockton Thunder professional hockey team mascot. Last year the event raised over $26,000 for the CCA. You can read all about the even at the Modesto Bee and Henry's March on MySpace.

Warriors Battle Pacific To Draw

In only their second game of the Spring Season the Cal State Stanislaus women's soccer team battled NCAA Division I opponent University of Pacific to a 0-0 tie. The Tigers, a member of the Big West Conference, went to their conference tournament last season and are returning all but one player for 2009. The Warriors, without their 7 seniors from the fall, displayed toughness and heart over the 90 minutes. The Warriors played all three goalkeepers (Jessica Sitarz, Millie Brown, Krista Messer) with each one making notable saves. Next up for the Warriors will be Fresno State tomorrow at 2 p.m. in Fresno. GO WARRIORS!

Spring soccer off to great start!

The Spring Season is all about learning and improving. Sunday we got our first chance to take the field against another team when we traveled down to Dominican University in San Rafael. The morning started with our exchange of "secret santa snacks." Everyone on the team pulled the name of someone else on the team earlier in the week and was responsible for bringing them snacks for the trip. The weather in San Rafael was a little cold and a rain mist fell most of the game but it was a great match! After the game we stopped at Extreme Pizza in San Rafael and enjoyed some dinner before heading home.

Why is vanilla pudding yellow?

It turns out that "Dinner With The Coaches" is much more than a team bonding experience. It is educational as well. For example, last week we learned the answer to the age old question "why is vanilla pudding yellow?" According to food expert Krista Messer the answer is "because it is not chocolate." Wow! With answers like that it is not hard to figure out why the Princeton Review ranks Cal State Stanislaus in the Top 15% of colleges nationally.

Here is a recap of last week's DWTC:

Monday (Jade, Bri, Marissa + coaches)

Menu: steamed Edamame with salt & soy sauce, chicken egg rolls, veggie egg rolls, pot stickers, Kung Pow chicken, brownies.
Game: Speed Scrabble

Thursday (Lisa, Maryanne, Krista + coaches)

Menu: salad, fruit salad, spicy pasta, banana mush.
Game: Pictionary

Highlights:
  • Bri's scrabble skills! Amazing!
  • Jade knows how to use a knife. Those carrots never stood a chance.

  • Krista not knowing what the word "noose" meant so instead drawing a "moose"

  • Lisa's obsession with her spicy pasta. Recipe courtesy of Alex Vallee

  • Maryanne's complicated fruit salad. Recipe: (1) buy any fruit, (2) chop fruit into bowl, (3) chill for at least 5 minutes....

  • Dunne having her first pot sticker ever and LOVING IT!

  • Casey helping a lot more...this week he steamed two bags of edamame AND made Shirley Temples.

  • Sally, Gabe and Krista....the greatest pictionary team of all time!
