Warriors Go International!

The typical midfielder runs 5-6 miles in any given game. That's nothing compared to how far the newest addition to the Warriors had to travel just to get to the soccer fields in Turlock.

The Warriors welcomed Alena Smajlagic to the team at the start of the spring semester. Alena, an attacking midfielder, is from Sweden. Born in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Smajlagic moved to Sweden when she was eight years old. It was there that she developed her soccer skills. In the fall of 2006 she moved to the United States to play for West Hills Community College in Lemoore, California.

After just three semesters and some summer classes Smajlagic graduated from West Hills with her Associate of Arts degree and a 4.0 grade point average. Smajlagic was a two-year starter for the Golden Eagles. She was first team all Central Valley Conference her freshman year and was Midfielder of the Year for the Central Valley Conference her sophomore season.
